A DEDICATED FAMILY OF CHEFS
FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
From an early age The restaurant trade has been very much a part of my life. After years of working in restaurants worldwide. My late father successfully set up his first restaurant in Hanley, Stoke On Trent called Eastern Tandoori. As a young boy my father would take me to his restaurant most days after school to experience what was involved in restaurant life.
Following on from this My eldest brother opened his first Indian restaurant in Macclesfield, ‘The Shalimar’ proved to be a great success and as a young teenager I worked as a pot washer at weekends and during school holidays. This gave me an insight into working in a busy kitchen environment and I began to understand the pressure of running a busy restaurant.
My father went on to open ‘Bon- O – Phool’ An Indian restaurant in Congleton and my brother opened his second Shalimar restaurant in Frodsham. I spent years working between the two – which involved long hours and late nights. However I was very passionate about the hospitality industry and my ambition only grew. Even after studying at university my primary choice was still to work within the restaurant environment and this overcame wanting to work in any other profession.
Therefore my father asked me to become a General Manager of Bon O Phool. I only grew in this role and my confidence and passion was fueled . I thrived on the challenge and Bon O Phool went from strength to strength. On meeting my wife Kathryn I decided it was time to open my own restaurant . The years of experience I had put me in a strong position to open a new successful restaurant.
ABOUT KATHRYN AKTHER
As I was growing up I was never really sure in what direction I wanted my career to head. My A -levels proved my best subject to be Business Studies therefore I began to study Business and Law at Bristol University however I quickly decided this was not for me.
After taking some time out to travel I came home and embarked on a nursing degree at Keele University. I loved every minute of it however two years into my course Fayak and I found out we were expecting our eldest daughter and i was therefore unable to return and complete my degree once Alessia was born.
It was following the birth of our daughter that we decided it was time to open our own restaurant. I had worked for two years as a waitress while studying for my A-levels and With Fayaks experience we were confident we could create a restaurant that was modern, elegant and most importantly one that provided fantastic food and excellent service. We named the restaurant “Alessi” after our daughter and six years later we are proud of what we have achieved. It has proved to be challenging at times – however with a strong team of staff behind us Alessi continues to grow.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your continued support and custom. I hope that our passion for Alessi is evident and provides you with a fantastic customer experience.
In 2011 my dreams became a reality as Alessi Opened its doors, My years of hard work and patience had finally paid off.
I am proud of what we have achieved and I Hope your fine dining experience at Alessi is enjoyable and I would like to thank you for your custom and helping to make Alessi The success it deserves to be….
